Angel Reese of the LSU Lady Tigers and Caitlin Clark of Iowa Hawkeyes have a storied rivalry, with the former aware that she appears to be the villain in their story. Regardless, the 21-year-old cleared the air and shared her feelings heading into the new NCAA Women's basketball season.
"I love Caitlin; we've been competing since we were in AAU," Reese said on Thursday, October 6, at LSU's media day via the New York Post. "It was always fun, always competitive. One day, hopefully, we could even be teammates. She is a great player, shooter, person, and teammate."
When the Lady Tigers bagged their first NCAA title last season, the milestone got overshadowed by Reese's taunt of Clark using John Cena's famous "You can't see me" gesture.
After that, the 21-year-old pointed to her ring finger, which caused a stir on social media, Fox News reported.
Reese will embrace the villain role
Regardless, Angel Reese admits she is the bad girl in her drama with Caitlin Clark and is willing to accept that reality.
"The world is always going to have a good girl and a bad girl," Reese said. "I'll take that I'm going to be the bad guy because I know I've grown women's basketball and inspired people."
Outside the basketball court, "Bayou Barbie" claims that she and the 2023 AP Player of the Year are cool and have no issues between them.
Reese and Clark return for their senior years at their respective schools. LSU is looking to retain its title, and its chances are huge considering the addition of top transfers such as Hailey Van Lith and Aneesha Morrow.
