The world's best female basketball player's next stop should only be the world's best women's professional basketball league.

Caitlin Clark is one of, if not the top prospect, in the upcoming WNBA draft. The Iowa Hawkeyes star guard knows turning pro is on the horizon, but that can wait for now.

Clark is in her last playing season for the Hawkeyes, and that is all she wants to focus on for now.

She even compared her last college season and WNBA plans to when she decided which college basketball to play for.

"It's really not something I think about every day or let weigh on me," she said in an interview with The Athletic.

"I'm focused on helping this team be the best they can be. The biggest thing is I'm just going to trust my gut. I'm not going to do a lot of research on what's better. I'm going to trust my gut and go with that."

The 22-year-old is currently ranked no. 1 in ESPN's Mock Draft, with the no. 1 pick potentially landing to Indiana Fever, Phoenix Mercury, Los Angeles Sparks, and Seattle Storm.

She led the Hawkeyes to a Finals appearance last season, where they bowed to LSU. She led the team with 27.8 PPG (league's 2nd) and 8.6 APG (lead the league). She also converted the most 3-pointers with 140.

Everybody wants her back

Clark is easily the most bankable female player of her generation, whether as an endorser or basketball player.

WNBA teams' interest can wait. For her coaches and teammates, there is no reason not to want her back.

"Obviously, I'd be thrilled if she comes back," coach Lisa Bluder said. "I want her to come back. Everybody wants her to come back. But it's her choice."
