The San Francisco 49ers have made a major move regarding the future of the team's general manager John Lynch and head coach Kyle Shanahan.
The team announced that they have signed Lynch and Shanahan a multi-year contract extension to remain in their posts.
The team has not disclosed the specific terms and details of the new deals. Before the extensions, Lynch was under contract until the end of the 2024 season, while Shanahan's contract was set to run until 2025.
Shanahan and Lynch began their journey with the San Francisco-based franchise in 2017, signing matching six-year contracts to assume their respective roles.
After initially embarking on a comprehensive rebuilding effort, the 49ers have become one of the league's consistently successful teams.
Massive turnaround for the 49ers in recent years
During the past four seasons, the 49ers have made an appearance in a Super Bowl LIV in February 2020. They also reached two other NFC Championship Games for a total of six playoff victories since 2019, tied for second most.
Furthermore, the team accumulated an impressive 45 regular-season wins, tied for the fourth-highest in the league in that span.
San Francisco is off to a hot start this season, winning their first three games against the Pittsburgh Steelers, Los Angeles Rams, and the New York Giants.
They are set to face the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday, October 1.
