Dallas Cowboys cornerback Trevon Diggs suffered a torn ACL in his left knee during team practice on Thursday, September 21, according to league insiders Tom Pelissero and Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network.
"A timetable for Diggs' return to play has not been established, but he is currently projected to miss the remainder of the current season," the Cowboys said in a statement.
The injury reportedly occurred in the early parts of practice during the one-on-one period, and the 25-year-old was seen inside the team facility walking on crutches before undergoing an MRI, revealing the injury's extent.
The ACL injury that the two-time Pro Bowl selection sustained was a "clean tear," which the doctors prefer, per insider Jordan Schultz.
Diggs has stayed relatively healthy throughout this NFL career, missing only five out of 49 games possible since his rookie year in 2020. He played in all of Dallas' 17 regular season games in 2022.
One of the top cornerbacks in the league, Diggs' absence will be a massive blow to the Cowboys' defense, which some consider the best in the league this season.
