Shohei Ohtani of the Los Angeles Angels underwent successful surgery for his elbow on Tuesday, September 19, at Kerlan & Jobe Orthopedic Clinic in Los Angeles.

The update on "Shotime" was released by his agent, Nez Balelo, via Instagram and disseminated by the Los Angeles Angels through its official Twitter account.

Further, it was added by Dr. Neal ElAttrache, the one who performed the procedure, that Ohtani will be ready by the opening day of the 2024 MLB season and pitch again in 2025 via Chelsea Jones of the Washington Post.

In the same post by Jones, it was explained that the decision on what type of procedure would be done on the 2021 AL MVP was based on the big picture. Ohtani wanted to ensure that his chosen procedure would allow him to hit and pitch for many more years.

Following the procedure, Ohtani is reportedly resting and in good spirits, excited as he embarks on his recovery journey.

"I had a procedure done on my elbow earlier this morning and everything went very well. Thank you very much for everyone's prayers and kind words. It was very unfortunate that I couldn't finish out the year on the field, but I will be rooting on the boys until the end. I will work as hard as I can and do my best to come back on the diamond stronger than ever. Go Halos!!" Ohtani stated on Instagram via SI.com.

Ohtani was ruled out on September 17 due to a lingering oblique issue. He missed 11 games for the Angels before being placed on the IL. Despite this, Shohei Ohtani remains a favorite to win the AL MVP, MLB.com reported.
