The St. Louis Cardinals will have crucial decisions to make in the offseason as they figure out who to keep and let go. One name at the top of the list is Tyler O'Neill.

The two-time Gold Glove Award winner has been struggling, appearing in 477 out of 972 big league games from 2018 to 2023.

The latest on the 28-year-old Canadian slugger is that he has been placed on the IL again, this time because of a right foot sprain, Katie Woo of The Athletic reported.

It is believed that O'Neill is likely done for the season.

But given his health struggles, it is also possible that O'Neill's time in St. Louis will soon come to an end.

O'Neill is still under team control for next season with an arbitration year, per Fansided. But with other reliable outfielders in their roster, they may cut ties with the Canadian.

Also, it would be best to note that the St. Louis Cardinals allegedly tried to trade the two-time Fielding Bible Award winner to several MLB teams. The only team identified was the Miami Marlins, according to Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic via Sports Illustrated.

Heading into another offseason, the Marlins, Seattle Mariners, and the Cleveland Guardians could use help in the outfield.

This season, O'Neill is hitting .231 with 23 extra-base hits, including nine home runs, 21 RBIs, and a .715 OPS (95 OPS+) in 72 games despite getting his share of ailments.

When healthy, the 28-year-old is a rare player with the power and speed to stand out. The only gamble is when O'Neill will be available and ready to take the field.
