Denver Broncos quarterback Russell Wilson gave an honest take regarding their narrow 35-33 loss against the Washington Commanders at home on Sunday, September 17.

The 34-year-old mentioned they had a few explosive plays and really good stuff throughout the game.

"In the second half, we went three and out a couple times and they had a sack on I think on the first drive of the second half. They made some plays on defense. The reality is that we got to be better and we should have won that game," the nine-time Pro Bowl selection added.

Meanwhile, head coach Sean Payton said something similar, saying they must be better. However, some of his post-game comments were seemingly directed at Wilson.

The 59-year-old tactician singled out the quarterback, saying that Wilson has to be sharper with getting the play out.

Broncos drop second straight game

The loss is the Broncos' second defeat in as many games this season, dropping to 0-2. Both losses have been narrow, as they lost their season opener against the Los Angeles Rams, 17-16.

Denver led by as much as 18 points in the game. Down 35-27 in the final seconds, they converted a stunning Hail Mary, with receiver Brandon Johnson catching a long throw from Wilson.

The game came down to a two-point conversion attempt, and Commanders cornerback Benjamin St-Juste hit receiver, Courtland Sutton.

The Broncos pleaded for a penalty, but the officials did not throw a flag.
