Dwight Howard made headlines recently by suggesting that he would play for the Taiwan basketball national team if he is not considered for Team USA in the 2024 Paris Olympics. But on the serious side, the eight-time All-Star appears to be trying to get back on the NBA bandwagon.

Howard is reportedly set to meet with the Golden State Warriors next week, according to sources in a report by Shams Charania of The Athletic.

It is no secret that the center slot has been a waterloo for the Dubs for some time now. Kevon Looney and Draymond Green have been trying to cover that, with Warriors coach Steve Kerr sticking to his small-ball basketball philosophy.

Undoubtedly, even with his stock dilapidating through the years, the top pick of the 2004 NBA Draft can still be of use. All he needs to do is provide the inside presence and be the rim protector the Dubs need.

However, on a different note, it is also risky. It calls to mind the tactic of the Lakers in bringing in veteran players to the mix to back its top stars.

The purple and gold never prospered with that strategy, and the Warriors may be wise to avoid that. This is about the Lakers' 2021 roster with Carmelo Anthony, Russell Westbrook, and Howard, among others, per the New York Post.

Should he make the roster, the 37-year-old will join Chris Paul as the other oldest player in the mix. The 12-time All-Star is 38 years old, acquired from the Phoenix Suns in that NBA trade involving Bradley Beal in June, per NBA.com.

Stephen Curry (35), Klay Thompson (33), and Green (33) are the other Warriors stars who are tipping the twilight of their NBA careers. Rather than go for veterans, the Warriors may want to seriously consider investing in young blood rather than All-Star or aging veterans if they want to whip up a winning recipe.
