The Houston Texans have placed their starting quarterback, CJ Stroud, on the injury report for a right shoulder injury on his throwing side.
The 21-year-old did not do much practice on Friday, September 15, to rest his shoulder, which has been sore. He was a full participant in practice throughout the week.
The second overall pick of this year's NFL Draft is listed as questionable for their game on Sunday, September 17, against division rivals Indianapolis Colts, but he is expected to play.
If Stroud could not start against the Colts, backup quarterback Davis Mills will take his place.
The 24-year-old Mills started 26 games for Houston during the past two seasons.
The former Stanford player has thrown 33 touchdown passes and 25 interceptions, and has a quarterback rating of 35.
Much awaited showdown
Sunday's game between the Texans and Colts has been widely anticipated due to the battle between two of this year's top five picks in the NFL Draft.
The Texans selected Stroud with the second overall pick, while the Colts selected quarterback Anthony Richardson with the fourth overall pick.
Speaking about their friendship, Stroud shared that he has known Richardson since high school, and they have always remained friends.
"Now that we're both drafted high and in the same division, it's kind of cool. That's my guy. I love him to death. He's a great dude and he's a good rapper. I like his songs. We're trying to get him this week," Stroud said.
