The Cincinnati Bengals have released offensive tackle La'El Collins after being placed on the players unable to perform (PUP) list on Tuesday, September 12.
The 30-year-old player continues to recover from torn ligaments in his left knee, an injury he suffered in a Week 16 game last NFL season against the New England Patriots, ESPN reported. He was previously placed on the PUP list since he was still undergoing rehab.
Collins started 15 games last season for the Bengals at right tackle. With the entry of Orlando Brown at left tackle, Cincinnati moved Jonah Williams to right tackle, and it appears the team is okay with this setup, NBC Sports reported.

The release of the former LSU Tiger also gives the Cincinnati Bengals $7.7 million in cap savings, according to Over The Cap.
The release of La'El Collins is a bit surprising, considering the former Dallas Cowboys player would have given the Bengals added depth at offensive tackle. Now a free agent, Collins is expected to focus on rehab and hope a new NFL team picks him up.
Collins has had quite a journey in the NFL. He made his mark with the Cowboys after getting signed as a free agent. He proved his worth and combined with Ezekiel Elliott to shore up the offensive line of the Dallas Cowboys.
With the Bengals, Collins also did his part in helping the team make it to their second AFC Championship game in a row, the Comeback noted.
With that resume, it would not be surprising to see La'El Collins finding a new NFL home. However, he needs to work his way back to 100 percent health before doing so.
