DeAndre Hopkins of the Tennessee Titans will start the 2023 NFL season with a chip on his shoulder. He had several teams on his list, but all of them brushed him away.
"There were some teams that I had on my list that I gave them calls and they didn't give a call back," the 31-year-old said.
The five-time Pro Bowl wide receiver shared with Clay Skipper of GQ that the Detroit Lions, Dallas Cowboys, New York Giants, and San Francisco 49ers were some of the teams he was open to playing for. Unfortunately, none showed interest.
"Detroit Lions, they didn't want me," Hopkins said. "Dallas Cowboys didn't want me. [New York] Giants didn't want me. S--t. Who else ain't want me? [The San Francisco 49ers] ain't want me," DeAndre Hopkins quipped.
Regardless, being passed up and landing in Tennessee could end up as a blessing for Hopkins. Now, he will be out to show why the aforementioned NFL teams made a huge mistake in passing him up.
"I'm very grateful for where I am, I think I made the best decision," Hopkins told Skipper. "I can't wait to play' em and, honestly, try my best to crush they a**."
Hopkins has played 19 games in the past two NFL seasons, pulling down 106 receptions for 1,289 yards and 11 touchdowns. Injuries marred those two seasons, so it will be interesting if DeAndre Hopkins can prove that he can remain productive and provide the Titans with a big boost.
Tannehill, the Titans have the Super Bowl in mind
One player who is upbeat about the Titans for this NFL season is quarterback Ryan Tannehill. He seriously believes they have a chance at winning the Super Bowl, Bleacher Report reported.
"I feel like the Titans have a chance to win the Super Bowl, and they've shown that, over the past couple years," Hopkins said. "There's not many teams that can say that they just ran over the Titans."
