Errol Spence Jr. vs. Terence Crawford II is on after the former reportedly exercised his contractual right to face the undisputed boxing welterweight champion.
Although multiple reports have claimed that the Errol Spence vs. Terence Crawford rematch will happen, the site's official date and weight have yet to be announced. The second fight between the two boxers was confirmed by Boxing Scene.
This was also confirmed by Crawford's trainer, Brian McIntyre, who said that Spence activated the rematch clause.
"[Crawford] just texted me yesterday and said that Spence activated his rematch," McIntyre said on Thursday, August 31, to Pro Boxing Fans. "The rematch is confirmed, but we don't have any date and stuff like that yet."
Crawford won a lopsided contest against Spence via TKO over "The Truth" in the 9th round at the T-Mobile Arena in Nevada, USA. That win rewarded the 35-year-old pug the WBO Welterweight title while retaining the WBA (Super), WBC, IBF, and vacant The Ring welterweight titles, the New York Times reported.
Although it has yet to be set, McIntyre forecasts Spence will try to move up in weight class. Should that happen, the 33-year-old former champion will be in for a tougher fight against Crawford, according to McIntyre in an interview with Fight Hub TV.
"I don't know if it's going to be at 154 or 147 [pounds], but I'm sure he's going to push the weight up," McIntyre said.
"The performance is still going to be the same (from Crawford). It might be even a little bit better so [Spence] might want to watch out before he activates that rematch clause," the 53-year-old trainer of Crawford added.
