Don't bite the hand that feeds you, they say.

Baltimore Orioles play-by-play commentator Kevin Brown has reportedly been given the pink slip by MASN due to a comment deemed insulting by owners. MASN and Orioles are under the same ownership.

The news of his firing was first reported by The Athletic.

"Baltimore Orioles announcer Kevin Brown has been removed from the team's broadcasts over a comment he made on July 23 during the Orioles' series against the Tampa Bay Rays, multiple sources briefed on the decision confirmed to The Athletic on Monday."

The comment in question was Brown pointing out how the "Orioles had won more games at Tampa Bay's Tropicana Field in 2023 than the last three years combined."

This commentary was backed up by notes created by the team's public relations staff.

The remarks appear like a random factoid, but the Orioles owner felt insulted by it because it has made them look cheap, The Athletic said.

Orioles refutes suspension reports

The Orioles, the number one in the AL East and only the second team to make it to 70 wins, refused to confirm whether Brown was indeed fired, but a senior official said they "Don't comment on personal matters."

He added that he's looking forward to hearing Brown's voice again.

Meanwhile, other league media personnel sympathized with Brown and called out the Orioles for such a move.

The Ringer's Rodger Sherman sarcastically said:

"What's he supposed to do, say the Orioles are back-to-back-to-back World Series champs."

Fox Sports' Jason Benetti pointed out how it is not Brown who lost in this development.

"He's truly one of the best play-by-play announcers in the country. If the Orioles don't want him, another team'll be elated."
