Green Bay Packers are moving on to a new season with more optimism after the end of the Aaron Rodgers era.
Training camp has not been perfect, but things are coming along as Rashan Gary has been removed from the list of players who cannot perform to ramp up their preparation for the new season.
Also activated were receiver Grant DuBose and cornerback Eric Stokes who were out due to issues on their back and foot, respectively.
Coach Matt LaFleur welcomes the return of Gary but said the linebacker will not participate yet in team activities.
"He'll be out there," said LaFleur before Monday's practice. "It's going to be more or less, mostly individual (drills). Maybe some of the walk-through/jog-through, but he's not going to be in any team."
LaFleur's lineup tinkering
The three's recovery will be a great addition to the team, but LaFleur also did subtraction on the same day by releasing veteran quarterback Danny Etling.
Explaining this move, the coach said it is just a matter of giving others better opportunities.
"Obviously, he was such an asset in the room, more of a veteran presence than the other guys in terms of just being able to, he's learned a lot of football from some really good football coaches," he said.
