Carlos Alcaraz's Wimbledon Open victory over Novak Djokovic has opened up conversations about the sports new Big Three, a title previously owned by the Serbian who has the most Grand Slam win, Roger Federer, and Rafael Nadal.
Federer does not think there is a triumvirate in the new crop of tennis players, but reaching that point is just a matter of time.
The Swiss Maestro said fans need to be patient.
"We have more all-court players nowadays. Not so much the traditional slow-court player and the fast-court player that we used to have," he said
"I think it's important for the fans to be patient. Some expect all these guys to be right away at our level. When I was 19, I was inconsistent. All of the players just needed a little bit of time. I think the game always creates new champions and the game is in good hands."
The new Big Three, according to fans, is made up of Alcaraz(20), Jannik Sinner (20), and Holger Rune (21).
Between these three, only Alcaraz has won Grand Slams. And he has goals similar to that of the old Big Three.
Alcaraz wants to be on their level
The young Spanish smasher may be young, but his goals as a professional player are grand.
He is more than just about becoming part of a new Big Three. He is about to be on the same level as the trio who are Top 3 in most Grand Slam wins.
"I hope to win as many titles as the three won [the Big 3]! I don't know... Probably with half of what they got, I could be happy with it. So imagine... I hope to be at the same level as them."
