Veteran forward Andre Iguodala was widely expected to retire after the conclusion of the 2023-24 NBA season, even if he did not make an official announcement.
Nearly three months since the Golden State Warriors were eliminated in six games by the Los Angeles Lakers in the Western Conference Semifinals, the 39-year-old has yet to speak about the status of his 19-year career.
Warriors general manager Mike Dunleavy has provided some updates about the 2015 NBA Finals MVP in an interview with NBC Sports Bay Area journalist Monte Poole in the Dubs Talk podcast.
“He has my number. Phone’s always on… Not gonna close the door on anything, but my guess and my belief is that he won’t be back.”

The team's top brass believes that Iguodala will not be returning this season, but he is not closing the door on the possibility of his return.
"My sense is Andre's probably got some other stuff going. But he has my number. Phone's always on... Not gonna close the door on anything, but my guess and my belief is that he won't be back," the team executive said.

Warriors are taking a different approach this year
Last year, the team waited until the later stages of the offseason to know if Iguodala was returning to play for the 2022-23 season.
The four-time champion announced in late September that he would be part of the team's title defense campaign. However, he missed the first 39 games of the season due to a hip injury.
After making his season debut in January 2023 and appearing in eight games, Iguodala suffered a fractured wrist in March that required surgery. He missed the rest of the year, including all 13 playoff games.
