The drama between Jonathan Taylor and the Indianapolis Colts camp seems to worsen each day.
Taylor, one of many running backs in the league who expressed discontent on their position's salary category, has requested a trade amid heated discussions over a contract agreement.
Team owner Jim Irsay is unfazed by Taylor's trade demand and has doubled down on what he said the previous days.
"We're not trading Jonathan... end of discussion," he told NFL reporter Albert Breer in a text.
"Not now and not in October!"
Irsay is taking it to the extreme based on a quote shared by James Boyd of The Athletic.
"If I die tonight and Jonathan Taylor is out of the league, no one's gonna miss us," he said.
"The league goes on. We know that. The National Football (League) rolls on. It doesn't matter who comes and who goes, and it's a privilege to be a part of it."
Why did Taylor want a new fit?
Taylor's camp made their feelings known, too, over the past few days. His agent Malki Kawa responded there's no fixing the relationship anymore in response to a comment expressing hope the two parties will be able to patch things up.
The 24-year-old is seeking a long-term contract with his team, but Irsay and the Colts have made it clear that they will not give him what he is asking. Reports said the team wants to see the season play out before making a new offer.
The two sides discussed over the weekend, but the Colts remained firm that no contract will be offered, making what Irsay said on X, formerly Twitter, official.
