Rumors of a possible Joel Embiid trade are ramping up following the reigning MVP's comments about his priority to win an NBA championship, even if it happens with another team.
Keith Pompey, a Sixers reporter for The Philadelphia Inquirer, can see the 29-year-old going to the New York Knicks.
In an appearance at the SiriusXM NBA Radio show, Pompey told several reasons why a move to the Big Apple is possible for Embiid, starting with current Knicks president Leon Rose being his former agent and the reigning MVP has owned a house in New York for a while now.
The Knicks have the worst-kept secret in basketball
Pompey added that "the worst kept secret" in basketball is the Knicks piling up first-round draft picks to be ready if Embiid asks for a trade out of Philadelphia.
If it happens, the Cameroonian's arrival in New York will catapult them to one of the top teams in the Eastern Conference.
However, Embiid's camp has not talked to the Sixers about a possible trade request as of writing.
The Knicks finished the 2022-23 NBA season as the fifth seed in the East, winning their first playoff series in a decade by eliminating the Cleveland Cavaliers in five games in the first round.
They eventually succumbed to NBA Finals runner-up Miami Heat in the second round, putting up a valiant fight in six games.
The Knicks are also reportedly monitoring the happiness of Embiid in Philadelphia amid James Harden's trade request situation.
