Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr admitted that he failed in one key area during the team's tumultuous 2022-23 season, plagued by team chemistry issues, a terrible road record, and failure to defend their NBA title.

The 57-year-old tactician said he failed to connect the group to achieve their goal.

"I will say that I feel like I failed last year in connecting the group. I have taken a lot of time this summer to think about last year, things I could have and should have done differently. I really believe that sometimes losing sort of forces you to reassess and reevaluate," Kerr said.

The 2016 NBA Coach of the Year is excited about returning next season with a renewed focus, energy, and spirit from the entire group, starting with him as the coach.

Steve Kerr: Top 15 coach in NBA history

The NBA named Kerr as one of the Top 15 Coaches in NBA History in 2022 during the league's 75th-anniversary celebrations.

Kerr has been with the Warriors since 2014 in his first full-time head coaching gig, leading them to an NBA championship in his first year in 2015. He soon mentored them to a dynasty, winning three more titles in 2017, 2018, and 2022.

The former player previously served as a broadcaster for TNT, as well as the Phoenix Suns' general manager from 2007 to 2010.

Kerr also enjoyed a highly successful playing career, winning five titles between the second-three peat of the Michael Jordan-led Chicago Bulls dynasty and the first two championships of the Tim Duncan-led San Antonio Spurs dynasty.
