Denver Nuggets star Nikola Jokic won two season MVPs before the last season, but the attention from the media does not show he is among the league's best.

Coach Mike Malone even spoke a lot of times about how the media ignored Jokic's game.

Specifically, the attention always goes to the Los Angeles Lakers, even if they were the ones who lost.

Jokic never commented on this issue, but when they met the Lebron James-led team in the finals of the Western Conference, former teammate Bruce Brown suggested that he had an axe to grind.

"I think that series for us was more personal than any other series," Brown said during an appearance at the Tidal League podcast.

"Don't know why ... I've never seen Nikola speak on the court. He wasn't talking s---, but he was like into the game. He was playing no games. Like he has something to prove, and he's the best player in the world."

Jokic's third-round averages of 23.3 PPG, 12.3 RPG, and 9.8 APG may not be better than his average in the eliminations, but they did convincingly sweep the Lakers.

Brown, who's with Indiana Pacers now, said they did not think they would lose any game in the series.

Another day in the office for Jokic in the finals

Jokic went on to prove he was in another tier in the finals which they lorded over Miami Heat in four games.

The Serbian and eventual Finals MVP recorded the first-ever 30-20-10 game in NBA Finals history.

He is also the first ever to lead the NBA playoffs in points, assists, and rebounds.

He definitely got nothing more to prove now.
