The racially charged exchange between Israel Adesanya and Dricus du Plessis is getting ugly by the day, but the two will have time to settle their discord by September.
UFC President Dana White has yet to say anything about the dream fight between the "two Africans," but former Heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier believes the showdown will happen eventually.
"It's an ugly, ugly thing. It is going to make for a crazy fight that we don't have to wait long for, it's going to happen in Australia in nine weeks," Cormier said during a sit down with Ben Askren on his own YouTube channel.
"Dricus took no damage, so they're going to fight in September. It literally is going to happen very quickly, and because of that, we get to have some resolution to it."
Stylebender has more to lose in the fight
The rift between Adesanya and Du Plessis is rooted in the question of who is the real African. Both parties accuse each other of dismissing one's ethnicity.
Stylebender threw a lot of shades and trash talk over the past few days, and for Cormier, he is the more aggressive one.
Therefore, this game is his to lose.
If Izzy can win, it'll feel great for him. But if he loses, boy, could you imagine if he loses to Dricus?" Cormier asked.
"That's the one guy he doesn't want to lose to. If he loses that, it's not good. You can't lose to him! You're in a situation now where you can't lose!"
