All 30 teams will participate in the new event, and they will be split into six groups -- three each conference with five teams each via a random draw based on their previous regular season record.
During the group play stage of the tournament, each team will play its groupmates one time for a total of four games, two at home and two on the road.
These games will happen every Tuesday and Friday starting on November 3.
The team with the best record for each group after the group plays and the next team with the best record in each conference will move on to the knockout round.
From there, the final eight teams will play a single-game elimination format. The last four teams standing will play the semis and championship game for the NBA Cup in Las Vegas on December 7 and 9.
