The Undertaker has named his favorite Superstar to share the ring with throughout his 30-year career with the WWE.

The distinction belongs to fellow WWE Hall-of-Famer Shawn Michaels, whom the Deadman faced in several classic matches.

Michaels came out on top against Undertaker in the first-ever Hell in a Cell match in WWE history, held during the main event of the Badd Blood pay-per-view in October 1997. The match received a 5-star rating from professional wrestling journalist Dave Meltzer. It would remain the last five-star WWE match from the journalist until 2011.

The next high-profile match between the two occurred nearly 12 years later at WrestleMania 25. The feud was built-up for months, with Michaels making his entrance wearing a white version of Undertaker's wardrobe.

The ensuing match resulted in one of the greatest WrestleMania matches of all time, with Undertaker extending his winning streak in the event at 17-0.

Their rivalry extended for over a year, with Michaels putting his career on the line for a rematch between the two in WrestleMania 26.

While not as critically acclaimed as their match a year ago, they still delivered one of the best headline matches in Wrestlemania history, with Undertaker winning again to send Michaels to retirement.

Shawn Michaels Celebrates 35 Years in WWE

Michaels celebrated 35 years of affiliation with the wrestling promotion, despite officially retiring from in-ring action in 2010, except for a one-off match in 2018.

Nicknamed The Heartbreak Kid and Mr. WrestleMania, Michaels is now the Senior Vice President of Talent Development Creative for the WWE's developmental territory NXT. He oversees the creative and development aspects of the brand.
