Premier League giants Chelsea and Manchester United are caught in a stand-off over the services of in-demand midfielder Mason Mount.
The Red Devils expressed interest in the 24-year-old English player and offered $40 million to have him on the team.
However, according to an exclusive report by The Telegraph, the offer was not enough compared to the asking price set by the Blues.

Chelsea's asking price for the Mount is $89 million. Mount is one of the lowest-paid players in Chelsea's first team. His contract will be done by June 2024.
Red Devils' Pursuit of Mount Not Dead Yet
While the talks collapsed last Wednesday, Manchester United believes Chelsea will still lose Mount this summer transfer.
The Manchester-based club believes the player will choose to walk away from Stamford Bridge, and the club will have no choice but to lower its asking price or lose him for nothing once his contract expires.
The gap in valuation between interested clubs for Mount will be determined before the start of the season.
New manager Mauricio Pochettino seems to love the idea of keeping Mount on the roster but selling him could be a good option for the club.
Manchester United is also ready to move on from Mount, so it will be Chelsea's loss if it does not take the offer. Manager Erik ten Hag is also watching other targets in the same position, like Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder Moises Caicedo. The club is also looking at Declan Rice, long-time captain of West Ham United.
