Seven races into the current Formula 1 season, the same car has crossed the finish line first. Red Bull continued their impressive start to the season, sweeping all races so far, with reigning two-time world champion Max Verstappen taking his fifth victory of the season at the Spanish Grand Prix on Sunday.

The Dutchman capped off an impressive weekend in style. He went first in all three practice sessions, got pole position in qualifying, and led all 66 laps of the race in Barcelona en route to his 40th career victory.

Max Verstappen on the Verge of Tying Ayrton Senna

The reigning champion claimed his third career grand slam in Spain, a feat when a driver qualifies for pole position, leads every lap, completes the fastest lap, and wins the race.

He claimed his first during the 2021 Austrian Grand Prix and followed it up during the 2022 Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix.

The 25-year-old is also one victory away from tying Ayrton Senna's career win total.

The race itself was clean as it could get. There were no retirements, yellow flags, safety cars, or red flags for the second time in the last three races.

Meanwhile, Mercedes had taken great strides in their car's performance, as Lewis Hamilton and George Russell took the spots on the podium after the Dutchman.

The seven-time world champion was named Driver of the Day for his silver-place finish after a mega-drive starting from fourth.

It was a day to forget for McLaren's Lando Norris, who finished 17th after placing third in qualifying. A collision with Lewis Hamilton, two corners into the race, ended his hopes for a podium finish.
