The Boston Celtics have limped to a 7-12 start in the 2013-14 season after seeing its old stars Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett getting traded to Brooklyn as well as coach Doc Rivers leaving for the L.A. Clippers. Their franchise star, Rajon Rondo, has been rehabilitating his torn ACL but could be on his way back to the floor if sources are to be believed.

Sportsline.com is reporting that Rondo could return to full contact practice after being medically cleared. On Monday, coach Brad Stevens confirmed that their All-Star guard 'did some practice' with the team.

Rondo tore his ACL earlier this year while playing the Atlanta Hawks, and his injury triggered the full-blown rebuilding of the Celtics which last won the title in 2008 behind the trio of Pierce, Garnett and Ray Allen. Rivers also walked away to join the Clippers as coach and president.

Two months ago, Rondo expressed eagerness to return to the floor and help the Celtics become more competitive in the Eastern Conference which currently has only two teams with records above .500- Miami and Indiana.

"I just have to get cleared by my doctors," he said back then as quoted by Sportsline. "I know it's getting stronger each week. When I'm able to jump off my right leg and dunk, that's probably when I'll be ready to play."

He however sounded cautious about a hasty return, saying: "I don't want any limitations. 'll know when it's right. Everybody is different. Lot of people have ACL injuries. But I won't come back until I know I'm myself again."
