It isn't just New York Jets fans who can't get enough of the Zach Wilson experience as even reigning NFL MVP Aaron Rodgers is impressed with the no. 2 overall pick in this year's NFL Draft.

Rodgers shared this view with Yahoo! Sports' Tyler Calvaruso during the Green Bay Packers preseason game with the New York Jets, saying that Wilson "can throw the heck of that ball" and that he's excited for what the Jets' new franchise quarterback can do in this league.

Rodgers gave Wilson valuable lessons during joint practices

Wilson showed Rodgers glimpses of his tremendous potential in Saturday's game, completing 9 of 11 passes for 128 yards and a pair of touchdowns. The former BYU standout showcased his arm strength and playmaking ability during his two-quarter stint against the Packers, finishing the game with an incredible 154.7 passer rating as he led the Jets to a 23-14 victory for their second win of the preseason.

Wilson got to spend some time with Rodgers when the Packers and the Jets held joint practices last week, and he managed to pick the brain of one of the best quarterbacks ever to play the sport. Wilson said that the biggest thing he picked up from Rodgers was his composure during the two-minute drill and how calm and collected the former Super Bowl champion was.

Wilson said he looked up to Rodgers when he was growing up, calling the Packers star his favorite player in the NFL. He also said that he modeled his game after Rodgers, a fun player to watch and who plays the game the right way.

Wilson off to a great start in NFL preseason

Wilson still has a long way to go before reaching the heights of Rodgers' accomplishments in the NFL but the early signs are good for the Jets' play-caller. Wilson has the highest passer rating (137.7) among NFL quarterbacks through the first two preseason games with at least 20 passing attempts.

He wreaked havoc against a Green Bay defense that rested most of their key defenders Saturday afternoon. The pass of the game came at the end of the opening quarter when Wilson managed to find his third option Corey Davis in a late-developing play.

The rookie quarterback moved within the pocket to buy some time before uncorking a 30-yard bullet pass downfield to Davis, who is slowly becoming his favorite target among the Jets' wide receivers.

Jets head coach Robert Saleh paid tribute to Wilson after yet another solid preseason showing, saying that Wilson is going through his progressions and that "his process is light years ahead of what a normal rookie's process would be."
