God of War is one of Sony PlayStation's cornerstone franchise with games dating all the way back to the PlayStation 2. It's no surprise that fans are eagerly awaiting for "God of War 4" which will mark the first time the series will have a new numbered entry for the current console generation. But ever since the initial reveal of the game, information has been hard to come by. But thankfully for eagle-eyed fans, the release for the much-awaited game may have been revealed.

Games Radar reports that a couple of fans might have figured out the release date of "God of War 4." The first clue comes from Kratos voice actor, Christopher Judge. Kratos is the main protagonist of the series who will take on a father figure in the latest entry. Looking at Christopher Judge's twitter page, his profile includes a text that says "God of War (2017)" which may indicate a 2017 release.

Another clue that may suggest a 2017 release for "God of War 4" comes from a Sony Father's Day ad in Spain. The ad features Kratos and his son in the latest game with a text that roughly translates as "my dad can beat up your dad." Now it would be weird for Sony to promote a game that will not be released anytime soon. The only possible explanation for this ad is that "God of War 4" will be released sometime this year.

Furthermore, it's known that Santa Monica Studios has been working on the engine that will be used for "God of War 4." In relation to that, Ben Goldstein, the technical director in charge of the engine posted a tweet wherein he is looking for someone who is interested in Pipeline and Engine architecture. The tweet suggests that the engine is already done and is looking for someone who will now use the engine for the developer's needs for the game.

These clues all seem to indicate that "God of War 4" is close to completion and will be seeing a holiday 2017 release. Amazon has also listed that the game will launch on December 29, 2017. If the rumors prove to be true, Sony will have the perfect opportunity to cap off an amazing year full of exclusives with the release of "God of War 4"
