Tom Brady is without a doubt one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time. But unfortunately, even the greatest of all time will eventually succumb to father time. And with reports saying that Tom Brady will play well into his 40s, this will be a good opportunity to look back at players who were known for their longevity in the sport.

Tom Brady will be 40 years old by the time the next NFL season starts later this year. According to New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft, Tom Brady plans to play for six to seven more years. And with Tom's dedication to his health and performance, he could very well play well beyond the normal age.

Tom Brady will not be the first QB that has played over the age of 40 years old. Pro Football HOF has a list of football players that has played over 40 and coincidentally, the oldest player on the list is a quarterback.

George Blanda played from 1949 up until 1975 as a quarterback/kicker. Blanda Played his last season at the age of 48 with the Oakland Raiders. He was mostly a kicker at this stage in his career. So it's not entirely impossible for Tom Brady to play up to 40 years old as Blanda has shown and may likely have a better career as a 40 year old QB.

Meanwhile, Steve DeBerg played in the NFL for two decades. However, the QB only managed to had 140 starts in his career and was mostly known as a career backup. But that doesn't mean that DeBerg isn't a good player as Peyton Manning was reportedly studying his film and is the oldest player to start as QB. Tom Brady could definitely surpass DeBerg as he has proven to be one of the best even at this stage of his career.

It remains to be seen f Tom Brady can in fact still play beyond 40 years old. It's been done before and if anyone can do it better, Tom Brady is the man.
