One of HTC's promises for the smartphone HTC One A9 was that it would roll out update within 15 days of Nexus devices. The first one or two security patches came on time, however the Taiwanese company virtually gave up after that. It took until January of 2017 for the users of HTC One A9 in US to receive Android 7.0 Nougat. However now, the European HTC One A9 is seen receiving this long-awaited update.

Product and Service Director at HTC EMEA, Graham Wheeler had tweeted that the update would begin to go out to both unlocked and carrier HTC One A9. This upgrade will follow European One M9 and 10 Android Nougat rollouts that took place about a month ago. For the HTC One A9 users in Europe, the software version has been bumped to 2.17.401.2, and the February security patch is also included in it.

The Android 7.0 Nougat update rollout is already on its way, so if you have a HTC One from Europe, whether it is unlocked or from a carrier, it's really a good time to manually check for updates. However if you haven't received a notification about the situation then you can also check manually, as per GSM Arena.

Initially, HTC has mentioned that users who have unlocked version of the HTC One A9 would receive software updates within 15-days. However, Company had dropped that promise which is why it is being said that the European version of the smartphone is starting to receive the update now, as per Android Soul.

As the nature of OTA updates, it won't hit all devices at the same time, so worry not and wait until you get the pop-up notification. Also, you can check for the update manually by going to Settings > about device > System updates and click on the "Check for updates" button.
