HTC U Ultra Review: One Of The Prettiest Smartphones

HTC's premium phone U Ultra offers many good features but it is not up to the mark according to latest technology smartphones. Although HTC U Ultra offers fluid glass design and high-quality speakers but it misses water resistance feature that is essential nowadays. HTC tried to follow Apple by removing traditional 3.5 mm headphone jack.

HTC U Ultra is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 quad-core processor and 4 GB RAM. The phone offers 64 GB internal memory that can be expanded using microSD card slot.  It features 5.7-inch Super LCD 5 (2560 × 1440 pixels) screen protected by Gorilla Glass 5 and a small secondary display.

According to CNET, HTC U Ultra doesn't look as premium as the all-metal HTC 10, but its reflective glass body makes it one of the prettiest smartphone. Its secondary display and large bezel make it bigger than any other phone on the market. People want to use smartphones with one hand only and that will be difficult on this phone.

Another disadvantage of HTC U Ultra is removed headphone jack. It forces the user to buy $12 USB-C to 3.5 mm adapter from HTC only. Apple also removed headphone jack, but it gives adapter with the box to customers and HTC should also do the same. However, the company is giving a pair of USB-C headphones.

As written in tom's guide, HTC's new flagship phone sports a 16-megapixel selfie camera with UltraPixel model and a 12-megapixel primary camera UltraPixel 2 with OIS. HTC U Ultra runs Android 7 Nougat with HTC Sense and is powered by 3,000 mAh with QuickCharge 3.0 charging technology.

The second screen on top is used to show the weather, date and time when the primary display is off. It is also used to display notifications, manage music and jump to favorite app or contact. HTC U Ultra is company's first phone with a smart virtual assistant, Sense Companion app.

HTC U Ultra is a perfect phone but only if it comes for around $500-600 and not $749. It looks like HTC was so focused on looks, it almost forgot the technical details of competitive smartphones.
