Tesla is known to make cars that run on electronic engines. But that didn't stop them from making fast cars that can rival cars with traditional engines. A month ago, Tesla set the record for a quarter mile run with a stock 2017 Tesla Model S P100D with the new "Ludicrous +" software upgrade. The record run had a time of 10.726 seconds which was a world record, at that time. This time, however, another Model S P100D managed to shave a tenth of a second to claim the world record.

According to Electrek, DragTimes hosted two races that feature two different Model S P100D's racing against a Camaro ZL1 and a BMW 550i. The Tesla car managed to break the four-door car record for a quarter-mile run with a time of 10.723 seconds. But later on that same day, another Tesla car of the same model was able to best that time.

A stock 2017 Tesla Model S P100D had a record time of 10.638 seconds at 124.65 mph. According to DragTimes, the Tesla car had no changes to anything whatsoever. It had original parts including the engine and performance parts up to the seats.

Meanwhile, the gas powered Camaro ZL1 and the BMW 550i had no chance in the race as both were left behind by the 2017 Tesla Model S P100D. The secret behind the Tesla car's success is the reduced weight. The Tesla had a 1,100 lbs weight reduction that the company claims to make a bigger a difference and was proven in the race as both the Camaro and the BMW are heavier.

Moreover, Tesla has announced that the 2017 Tesla Model S P100D can go from 0 to 60mph in 2.0 seconds. That rate is almost half a second faster than the two cars mentioned earlier. Considering that Tesla is new to the auto industry, it's certainly surprising to see them beat other well-known companies in their own game.
