Google's Nexus lineup was widely cherished by Android fans because of the pure Android experience they offered. However, the Nexus smartphones were always ahead of the game when it came to software, but on the hardware part they always lagged behind.

One of the main reasons behind this is that the hardware in the Nexus phone was designed by third party manufacturer's like Huawei, LG and Samsung and not Google themselves. In 2016, eight long years after the introduction of Android, Google has finally decided to take things in their own hands and enter the smartphone hardware industry. As premium smartphones the Pixel is designed to represent Google's version of a perfect Android smartphone, with the hardware and software flawlessly working together.

Google has a lot to learn as a hardware manufacturer and all these issues will surely help Google make a better smartphone the next time around. Below is everything we know about the Google Pixel 2 so far.

Google Pixel 2 will remain as premium, and there will not be a budget version in the near future of the phone. The device will be powered by Qualcomm's latest Snapdragon 835 processor. The powerful SD 835 processor will boost the performance and allows the phone to have a better battery life, according to India Today.

Considering Samsung and Apple have set up a higher bar for premium smartphones to at least be waterproof. Pixel 2 is also expected to come with IP68, similar to Samsung Galaxy S7, which is having the highest standard of water/dust resistance currently.

Google Pixel 2 is rumored to feature a display similar to the recently launched LG G6 i.e. the edge to edge display. It will have a QuadHD display (1440 x 2560). Even iPhone is also rumored to have the similar design on their forthcoming iPhone 8.

The Pixel 2 is also rumored to ditch the headphone jack, similar to iPhone 7. However it is still unconfirmed. The rumor which said to be based on "an internal Google Document," which claims that Google Pixel 2 will come without a 3.5mm headphone jack, as reported by Tech Radar.

Google Pixel 2 will be the first device to sport new Android software, codenamed Android O. The latest Android software available today is Android Nougat, and many other smartphones manufacturers still rolling out the update to their devices.
