Salvaging the New York Knicks 2016-17 NBA Season may already be a long shot. With just a few more regular season games left, the Knicks should give its young players more playing time to help them improve.

The New York Knicks currently holds the 12th spot in the Eastern Conference Playoff race. Despite Carmelo Anthony's insistence that tanking is the last thing in his mind, the Knicks has to accept that this season is already a lost cause.

As of this reporting, the Knicks only has 18 games left on its schedule. The New York team should just use the remaining games to give its young players NBA experience and to help them improve.

According to ESPN, the Knicks should already consider using the rest of its season to develop its young players. The New York Knicks is 5 1/2 games behind the Chicago Bulls, which currently holds the 8th spot in the East. As such, unless the Knicks goes into a double-digit winning streak and Bulls lose more games, the Knicks will not make the playoffs this year.

Since the remainder of the regular season games will already be meaningless, giving more minutes to its young core is not a bad idea for the Knicks. In a losing effort against the Golden State Warriors, its second-year player, Kristaps Porzingis, and rookie guard, Ron Baker, were the ones responsible for keeping the game close and avoiding a blowout.

In the New York Knicks recent win against the Orlando Magic, rookie guard Chasson Randle's seven points, five dimes and five boars in 25 minutes of play were instrumental to the team's victory. This led the NY Post to call for more of Chasson Randle this month.

Giving its young players NBA experience will be a great help for the New York Knicks moving forward. This year's playoff run may be over but the Knicks can prepare for the following NBA season as early as now.
