The New England Patriots have no intention of tweaking their lineup next season and that includes the quarterback spot. For quite some time, backup QB Jimmy Garoppolo was the subject of numerous rumors regarding his status with the team. Now, the Patriots seem have cleared the issue surrounding Garoppolo.

The New England Patriots are one of the most celebrated and popular teams in the NFL today. They've been to twenty-four playoff appearances, nineteen division championships and nine conference championships. And just recently, they emerged as the 2016 NFL Champions after defeating the Atlanta Falcons in the Super Bowl last month.

With that, the title gives the New England Patriots an overall five Super Bowl championship already. However, even after winning the championship, the team roster has been the hot topic of rumor mills recently particularly QB Jimmy Garoppolo trade issue. But latest news is saying that The Pats have addressed the topic about it.

According to ESPN, the New England Patriots made it clear that they are trading QB Jimmy Garoppolo and they intend to keep him for long term. Patriots starting quarterback Tom Brady will be turning 40 in August and if ever The Pats are preparing for his imminent retirement.

With that in mind, the New England Patriots are planning to keep Jimmy Garoppolo in the coming season and probably beyond as per stated in the report. And why not, Garoppolo has emerged as a great backup for Tom Brady when Brady has suspended four games at the start of the season. He's been instrumental in winning the first two game for the Patriots against the Arizona Cardinals and Miami Dolphins.

FOXSports also reported that the New England Patriots have all reason to keep Jimmy Garoppolo in their lineup. Drafted by the Patriots in 2014, the Pats see more potential on the 3-year quarterback as he norms 502 passing yards and 4 touchdowns in only six games he has played last season. The stats is way better than the first two season he has played.

Aside from that, Jimmy Garoppolo is entering the final year of his rookie contract with a base salary of $820,077 which more affordable for a backup quarterback or a potential future starting quarterback for the New England Patriots. It would also be a great risk for the Patriots if they will let Garoppolo leave the team without a dependable quarterback if ever Brady got injured.

Is the decision of the New England Patriots to keep QB Jimmy Garoppolo the right choice?
