The New York Knicks are looking for a new point guard in the summer and they are setting their sights on New Orleans Pelicans star Jrue Holiday. However, Knicks fans should not get their hopes up because Holiday is not going to New York.

According to Ian Begley of ESPN, the Knicks are moving on from Derrick Rose and they are interested in signing Holiday as their new point guard. The 26-year-old All-Star is an upgrade to Rose, who is a free agent at the end of the season, especially on the defensive end.

Begley also pointed out that Knicks president Phil Jackson was very interested in acquiring Holiday via trade during his first year in New York. Since Holiday is expected to enter free agency, the Knicks are going to take their chance and try to lure him to the basketball capital.

However, the trade of DeMarcus Cousins to New Orleans has a lot of effect on Holiday's decision to re-sign with the Pelicans. The team now has two of the best big men in the world and Holiday can help them reach the next level next season.

According to James Herbert of CBS Sports, Holiday is a great addition to New York but it has a long shot of happening. The Knicks do have Justin Holiday to convince his brother to join him in New York but he's also a free agent at the end of the season.

But the most notable reason why Jrue is going to spurn the Knicks and stay with the Pelicans is all of the drama in New York. Jackson and Carmelo Anthony are not getting along and owner James Dolan is one of the worst in the NBA.

The reputation of the Knicks has taken a hit this season and their status as a free agent destination is not as high as they think. Jrue is better off in New Orleans where Anthony Davis and Cousins can realistically take them to the promise land if they can get it together.
