The New York Knicks just released point guard Brandon Jennings as the team continues to have one of the most disappointing seasons in franchise history. However, the latest NBA rumors have revealed that the Knicks are not done and they could be waiving Derrick Rose very soon.
The Knicks parted ways with Jennings on Monday to pave the way for former Philadelphia 76ers guard Chasson Randle, per Adrian Wojnarowski of The Vertical. The team reportedly did not like Jennings' mindset in the middle of a very trying season.
After the release of Jennings, NBA rumors have pointed out that Rose could be getting released next by the Knicks. According to Frank Isola of the New York Daily News, there is a lot of chatter around the league that Phil Jackson might release the former MVP.
The NBA rumors come just after two days after B.J. Armstrong, who represents Rose, insisted that his client is going to re-sign with the Knicks. Armstrong told the New York Post that Rose wants to stay in New York despite all team's problems this season.
"Nothing has changed with us. It's the same. We are committed to New York long term. We've been committed from the first day we got traded there. You win together, lose together and stick together," Armstrong said.
The Knicks acquired Rose from the Chicago Bulls in the offseason for Robin Lopez, Justin Holiday and Jerian Grant. He is currently averaging 17.6 points, 3.9 rebounds and 4.4 assists per game this season while shooting 46.2 percent from the field.
However, the team looks better without Rose on the floor since he is not a great shooter and not a really good defender. He is shooting 23.6 percent from beyond the arc, which is the worst of his career since being a rookie.
Nevertheless, these are just NBA rumors at the moment and should be taken with a grain of salt. The Knicks are just 24-36 this season and they are 4.5 games behind the eighth and final playoff spot.
