Former Cleveland Browns quarterback Johnny Manziel appeared in court on Tuesday to discuss the conditional agreement regarding his misdemeanor assault charges. Manziel told a Dallas judge that he is turning his life around while also taking a shot at the NFL.

The 24-year-old is facing assault charges filed by his ex-girlfriend Colleen Crowley, who accused him of beating and threatening to kill her last January 2016. Manziel's representatives negotiated a deal with the Dallas County district attorney's office wherein he has to abide by several conditions like undergoing rehab for drug and alcohol abuse.

The ex-Browns QB told Judge Roberto Canas that he is starting to turn his life around and everything is trending upwards for him. Manziel was released by the Browns in March 2016 just two years after getting drafted in the first round.

"Everything has been going extremely smoothly and my life is trending upward so I don't even want to let this get anywhere near the rabbit hole that you were describing. This situation is in my hands. I need to get my life in order. These are the things I need to do," Manziel said, via the Dallas Morning News.

The Texas A&M product also took a shot at the NFL and he does not trust the league anymore. He pointed out that his trust issues came from the NFL's treatment of players like him in the past. If Manziel gets back in the league, the NFL can suspend him for violating the domestic violence policy.

According to The Daily Mail, Manziel started turning his life around when he met girlfriend Bre Tiesi last year. The couple has been together for several months now and they live together in San Diego, California.

Even though there are still some photos and videos showing Manziel drinking alcohol, there have been no other controversies since he got together with Tiesi. It is a great improvement for Manziel to not be involved in any violence for the past year.
