With less than 24 hours remaining before the NBA’s trade deadline, the Boston Celtics and their stockpile of assets continue to be in the middle of potential deals for superstars Jimmy Butler and Paul George. But having a hold at the second seed in the East, along with a projected deep 2017 draft, the Celtics may reportedly opt to stay put.

According to Steve Bulpett of the Boston Herald, the Boston Celtics look likely to hold on to their first-round draft pick from the Brooklyn Nets, if neither Jimmy Butler or Paul George becomes available. But while the team has had a tremendous regular season so far, it would be a much different game in the playoffs when teams are able to zone in on Isaiah Thomas, forcing the ball out of his hands. Another important point, as NBC Sports highlights, is the age of the Boston Celtics’ stars—Thomas is 28, while Al Horford is 30—a fact that could lead to the Celtics pushing their chips in.

There have been mixed signals released by teams as the NBA trade deadline inches closer. The Chicago Bulls have said that they have no intention of trading Jimmy Butler, which is the same thing the Sacramento Kings said about DeMarcus Cousins, while according to Adrian Wojnarowski, the Indiana Pacers are still gauging the trade market for Paul George.

According to The Vertical’s sources, the Indiana Pacers are looking at the possibility of making a deal to acquire talents to pair with Paul George, or finding an impressive offer for their All-Star. The Los Angeles Lakers, under new president Magic Johnson, have reportedly expressed interest in trading for the two-way star. Curiously, George, who is set to be a free agent in 2018, has reportedly expressed interest in signing with the Lakers when he becomes a free agent.
