With their wealth of assets, the Boston Celtics will be embedded in every trade rumor in the foreseeable future. The most recent buzz centers on Los Angeles Clippers forward Blake Griffin, who has reportedly been the subject of a potential deal discussed by the two teams.

According to Zach Lowe of ESPN, the Boston Celtics have been in talks with the Los Angeles Clippers in the past few weeks, exploring the possibility of adding Blake Griffin to the second-best team in the Eastern Conference. As noted by Lowe, while talks have been ongoing, a deal appears to be unlikely, with the Los Angeles Clippers looking for a package that includes Jae Crowder, either Marcus Smart or Avery Bradley, and a couple of the Boston Celtics’ treasure chest of draft picks. It’s also important to note that Blake Griffin will become a free agent this summer.

As noted by CBS Sports, the potential addition of Blake Griffin would give them a dangerous frontcourt partner to Al Horford and would address the Boston Celtics’ defensive rebounding issues. Adding Blake Griffin’s versatile skills would also take off the heavy scoring load that Isaiah Thomas has had to carry the entire season.

Apart from Blake Griffin, the Boston Celtics are also reportedly looking at the possibility of acquiring either Jimmy Butler or Paul George. As noted by Oregon Live, as the Jimmy Butler talks have stalled, the Celtics have “zeroed” in on the talented Indiana Pacers swingman, although according to Lowe, the Indiana Pacers have pushed back their attempts to potentially move Paul George.

According to the Oregon Live report, the Indiana Pacers are instead looking at the possibility of providing Paul George with some much-needed talent in Philadelphia 76ers center Jahlil Okafor. Exploring all possibilities, the Pacers have reportedly informed teams that their first-round pick in the upcoming draft is available.
