After an online firestorm was set last week by news that Conor McGregor and Floyd Mayweather Jr. have agreed to terms for a massive boxing match between two megastars from two different sports, both sides remained relatively quiet. That all ended when cameras caught up with McGregor and asked him about the undefeated boxer, when the Irishman obliged by calling Mayweather a “b----“ among a slew of other shots.

“Floyd’s a b--- and he’s petrified,” Conor McGregor told TMZ Sports. “I flew to Las Vegas and he didn’t show his face—as soon as I touched down in Las Vegas, he retired twice.” McGregor flew in to Las Vegas last week to meet with the Nevada State Athletic Commission and sort out issues regarding last year’s bottle throwing incident prior to UFC 202. The UFC lightweight champion fueled rumors that he would be in town to start face-to-face negotiations with Floyd Mayweather for the potential fight.

Conor McGregor has repeatedly suggested that his next fight would be in a boxing ring, with the preferred paycheck that comes along with fighting Floyd Mayweather. But with the recent signing of former UFC welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre back into the organization, St-Pierre stands as another big fight option for McGregor. UFC president Dana White opened up this possibility by saying St-Pierre has talked about fighting at 155 pounds, when asked about potential comeback fights for the French-Canadian.

As noted by MMA Junkie, included in Dana White’s unofficial list of potential fights for Georges St-Pierre were welterweight champion Tyron Woodley, his next opponent Stephen Thompson and middleweight champion Michael Bisping. While all of the fore mentioned would be interesting fights for St-Pierre, none of them would bring the attention that a fight against Conor McGregor would bring. This development could also be used by both McGregor and the UFC as a negotiating tool against Floyd Mayweather.
