ISRO World Record: India Makes History By Successfully Launching 104 Satellites

This is the most exciting and fascinating moment for India. India's Space Agency, Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) created a new history. The organization has set a world record of launching 104 satellites that too on a single rocket.

According to NDTV, ISRO (Indian Space Research Organization) has launched a total of 104 satellites from Sriharikota spaceport which is also called Satish Dhawan Space Centre, located in the state of Andhra Pradesh, India. This has made a history, as well as the world record of India, becoming the first country to carry a huge number of satellites in a single mission.

For ISRO, this mission was the first space mission of the year 2017. It was the most complicated mission till now as well for ISRO, as carrying out 104 satellites in a single go is not a joke, but a matter of fact.

BBC reported that ISRO overtook the record of launching 37 satellites by Russia in the year 2014. "This is a great moment for each and every one of us. Today we have created history," project director B Jayakumar was quoted as saying by the Reuters news agency.

This was ISRO's Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV)'s 39th flight which was carrying a total of 104 satellites. Within 18 minutes, all the satellites were released into the space traveling at a drastic speed of 27,000 km per hour. For ISRO, this was the second successful mission after June 2015 when it launched 23 satellites in a single rocket.

PSLV first released Cartosat-2 series, which is India's earth observation satellite which was then followed by INS 1A and INS 1B, two Nanosatellites. Out of 104 satellites launched by ISRO, 96 belong to the United States while Israel, Kazakhstan, the United Arab Emirates, Switzerland and the Netherlands are the other foreign clients. Maximum numbers of satellites have earth-imaging capability and they belong to a US company named Planet.
