Georges St-Pierre has agreed to a new contract with the UFC and he is scheduled to return inside the Octagon in the third quarter of this year. There is still no official word on who will be his opponent for his comeback fight but it is safe to say that it's not CM Punk.

According to Ariel Helwani of MMA Fighting, GSP and the UFC agreed to terms on a new deal on Wednesday with just his comeback opponent not being finalized. It is going to be his first fight since taking a hiatus in late 2013.

St-Pierre last fought Jonny Hendricks at UFC 167 and he won the fight via a controversial split decision. He vacated his welterweight title a month later and announced that he will be taking a break from mixed martial arts.

One of the fighters fans can cross out on the list of his possible opponents is CM Punk, per Cageside Seats. Oddsmakers believe that Punk has a 150/1 shot fighting GSP in the third quarter of 2017. The rookie MMA fighter is 0-1 and he had a very disappointing debut last September at UFC 203.

Punk only lasted two minutes and 14 seconds inside the Octagon. He got taken down to the ground by Mickey Gall quickly and it was all over after that. Gall beat up Punk's head with some ground and pound before locking in the rear-naked choke for the submission win.

Although GSP vs. CM Punk is not going to happen, a second fight for the WWE superstar is possible. He has been talking to UFC president Dana White about the possibility of stepping into the Octagon once again.

In an interview with FOX Sports, Punk revealed that he's been suggesting names to White for his next opponent. He added that he is still training and working on everything despite the embarrassing first fight.

"I am working on it feverishly. I'm throwing names at Dana, opponents, dates. I don't know if he's waiting for a Chicago show or what the deal is but if it doesn't happen in the UFC, it will happen somewhere else. I'm dedicated to fighting and training. We'll get there," Punk said.

As for GSP's next opponent, Michael Bisping is the favorite since they verbally agreed to fight. Other options for St-Pierre include Tyron Woodley, Anderson Silva, and Conor McGregor.
