There were WWE rumors last week implying that Nikki Bella will retire at WrestleMania 33 with John Cena finally proposing to here. It comes as a shock to her fans since her sister Brie retired at WrestleMania last year.
However, the latest WWE rumors suggest that Nikki is only taking a hiatus after WrestleMania 33 but she will transition into a part-timer. She underwent neck surgery in late 2015 and she returned on schedule in last year's SummerSlam.
According to WWE rumors last week, Nikki's neck surgery is still a problem which will lead to her retirement at WrestleMania 33. The rumored final match for her was as Mixed Tag Team Match along with Cena against The Miz and Maryse, per Cageside Seats.
If that was Nikki's final match, it would not have been a bad way to go with the love of her life by her side. She can still be on television after her retirement with the success of "Total Bellas" on E! with Brie, Cena, and brother-in-law Daniel Bryan.
However, WWE rumors are now pointing to Nikki transitioning to a part-time superstar just like her boyfriend. According to Ryan Satin of Pro Wrestling Sheet, the 33-year-old star will only take some time off from wrestling but she won't be leaving WWE.
The report added that Nikki is still dealing with pain in her surgically-repaired neck and the full-time schedule is not helping her recover. She is going to be a part-time superstar once she returns from her hiatus.
WWE rumors have also revealed that Nikki's deal is going to expire at WrestleMania 33. However, both sides are going to negotiate before the big event and a new contract is expected to be signed. The former Divas champion has been with the WWE for ten years.
Nikki and Brie were signed to developmental deals in 2007 and they made their main roster debut the next year. The Bella Twins was released from their contract in 2012 before getting re-signed in 2013.
Brie retired last year as she was planning to start a family with her husband. Nikki will face Natalya at Fastlane as part of their feud. Nevertheless, Nikki becoming a part-timer is still part of the WWE rumors and should be taken with a grain of salt.
