Google, the tech giant and the Android software maker has a new upgrade to its Android Nougat OS. The company rolled out the Android 7.1.2 Nougat Beta Program to its Android devices in the tech market. Google Pixel and Nexus devices can now take up the upgraded version of Android 7.1.1 Nougat OS.

According to Pocket Lint, Google usually announces its Android preview during its Google I/O developer conference which will be held annually in the month of May. But, in the case of Android 7.0 Nougat, the company announced the developer preview earlier so that it could be tested before final launch. This process is now being continued by Google for the newest Android upgrade-Android 7.1.2, with the wider roll-out of Android 7.1.1 still underway.

It is reported that Android 7.1.2 Nougat Beta update is for the Nexus and Google Pixel devices. The Google Pixel phones can take the update without any problems. It is clearly reported that the Beta firmware update is not for all the Nexus devices. Below mentioned is the list of devices that are supported to take the update.

  1. Pixel
  2. Pixel XL
  3. Pixel C
  4. Nexus 5X
  5. Nexus Player

It is reported that the users of Nexus 6 and Nexus 9 have not been mentioned in the Android 7.1.2 Beta firmware update.

The beta version of the update can be obtained when the users have already joined the beta testing program. In order to register the program, the user can go to the android.com/beta website. Once registered, members will receive over-the-air notifications on upcoming beta firmware releases and download through that program.

Steps to get the update:

  • Visit android.com/beta to sign-up to the Android Beta Program.
  • Sign into your Google account when prompted.
  • Your eligible devices will be listed on the next page, click to enroll in the Beta Program.
  • Updates will arrive over the air direct to your device.

If the user has used the Android Beta Program before and enrolled the device previously, then it will already be on the list and will automatically receive the updates when they become available.

If in case the user doesn't need the updates, then the user can follow the steps above, and then click to "unenroll device"
