The San Francisco 49ers are carefully evaluating the situation of Brock Purdy this offseason. As the NFL Draft nears, the NFL trade rumors about the 25-year-old quarterback are growing.
After taking the team to a Super Bowl berth and silencing critics after being drafted with the last pick of the 2022 NFL Draft, Purdy's long-term future with the 49ers might be in jeopardy since he could be traded anytime.
The Contract Issue That Might Push the Rumored Trade
Purdy's camp is looking for a $60 million-per-year contract, the same as Dak Prescott receives from the Dallas Cowboys, according to 49ers insider Grant Cohn. Insiders, though, indicate that the 49ers would be more at ease paying around $50 million per year—a huge amount, but possibly not enough to please Purdy's agent, Sports Illustrated reported.
Cohn said that the 49ers might grant Purdy's camp permission to pursue a trade if they don't move. The most interesting part? The Tennessee Titans might be willing buyers.

Titans Show Up as a Possible Trade Option
One trade proposal put forth by Cohn involves the Titans trading for Purdy after taking Penn State edge defender Abdul Carter with the No. 1 overall pick. The 49ers would get a 2025 first-round pick and a 2026 second-rounder that becomes a first based on performance.
This would enable the Titans to address their quarterback issue while also granting Purdy the rich extension he is seeking. San Francisco, in turn, might restart at quarterback with a rookie such as Shedeur Sanders or an established veteran like Aaron Rodgers and Kirk Cousins.
Would the 49ers Truly Replace Their Breakout Star?
As the trade rumors pick up, a Purdy deal is not likely, at least not yet. The former "Mr. Irrelevant" has emerged as the franchise face, leading the NFL in passer rating last season and taking the 49ers to the Super Bowl for the first time since 2020.
Allowing a young, efficient quarterback to walk, particularly one who showed that he can excel under pressure, would blow back hugely. That said, with high-profile players such as Brandon Aiyuk and Trent Williams already having organized holdouts in the past, the same kind of action by Purdy isn't impossible if no deal is struck before the summer.
