Here comes the battle between thinnest laptops of the world. Everyone wants small and light laptops but are they really worth compromising some important features. Find out the comparison between Apple MacBook Air and HP Spectre.

HP promotes its Spectre as "thinnest notebook in the world." Both the giants Apple and HP had to make some compromises to make their products better. Apple MacBook Air runs OS X and on the other hand, HP Spectre runs Windows 10.

As written in Digital Trends, the most expensive version of the Apple laptop uses the Core M7-6Y75, a dual-core processor clocked at 1.3GHz. The base model of the HP Spectre uses a Core i5-6200U, which has a base clock of 2.3GHz. The Core M processor offers a faster "turbo" speed and consumes less energy but Spectre offers much more power at a lower cost.

Both Apple MacBook Air and HP Spectre include 8GB of RAM in which Spectre's memory is somehow faster. Companies give the option of either 256GB or 512GB SDDs for storage but HP offers a higher capacity at a smaller price.

Macbook and Spectre miss the latest screen options as 4K laptops are available in the market now. However, in this part MacBook leads with 2304 × 1440 resolution against Spectre's 1920 × 1080. Apple leads in screen density as well, since it offers smaller 12 inches versus 13.3.

Neither MacBook Air nor Spectre offers a touchscreen option but Dell XPS 13 does. MacBook is the tiniest possible option as Spectre is 0.42 inches thinner but more than an inch longer in width and depth.

Apple Macbook Air comes with only one USB Type-C port which creates a problem when someone wants to use USB while charging. On the other hand, Spectre offers three Type-C ports out of which two use the latest and faster 3.1 Gen 2 standard.

As written in the Wall Street Journal, the Spectre trails behind the MacBook on battery. With brightness set at around 80%, the Spectre ran for 6.5 hours and MacBook lasted for 8.5 hours.

MacBook air is available in two primary configurations. Base model with 1.1GHz Core M3 processor and a 256GB SSD for $1300 and higher model with 1.2GHz Core M5 processor and a 512GB SSD. However, there is an option to upgrade the processor to 1.3GHz Core M7 for an extra $150.

HP Spectre also offers two configurations. One with Core i5 processor for $1170 and other with Core i7 processor for $1250, both with 256GB SSD. It offers higher storage option of 512GB SSD for $200. Both devices offer only one screen option and 8GB of RAM.

For the ones who need speed and more USB options should go for HP Spectre and the ones who want style, battery, smallest and lightest should choose the MacBook Air.
