Apple's upcoming flagship iPhone 8 smartphone is anticipated to feature new 3D Touch pressure-sensitive sensor functionality to work with flexible OLED display.

As written in 9 to 5 Mac, KGI analyst Ming-Chi Kuo says that new OLED iPhone will use a flexible display panel, which will likely allow it to curve around the sides of the main chassis.

This makes it incompatible with the existing 3D Touch pressure sensors in previous models. As curved display requires higher pressure sensitivity, Apple has to change the design implementation of 3D Touch.

The curved display will be improved by a thin film sensor instead of FBCB sensor which will enhance touch sensitivity and higher accuracy and support a wide range of 3D Touch pressure levels.

With the new concept, fingerprint home button will be integrated into the screen. There are many rumors and sources which indicate the major upgrade in iPhone 8 from the iPhone 7 which include completely changed glass design, with an OLED display larger than the previous model.

iPhone 8 will also feature new Touch ID and facial recognition biometrics, improved waterproofing, and wireless charging. Same as previously launched phones, iPhone 7 and 7 Plus, there will be no traditional headphone jack in iPhone 8 as well.

There will some minor changes along with new chips to perform better with the advanced technology. Instead of two, Apple will launch three new models in 2017 according to rumors: iPhone 7s, iPhone 7s Plus and iPhone 8 with an OLED screen.

As written in Forbes, Apple will be introducing a 5.8-inch iPhone with an edge-to-edge OLED display according to rumors. Analysts are expecting iPhone 8 to be one of Apple's best-selling products. KGI Securities reported a forecast that the tech giant Apple may sell around 120-150 million units of iPhone 8 alone in the second half of 2017.

iPhone 8 is expected to launch in fall 2017 and expected to be a big hit. Apple is changing their screen with an edge-to-edge flexible OLED display with new 3D Touch pressure-sensitive sensor. No doubt it will be best-selling smartphone of a decade.
