Nokia revealed the first Android phone, Nokia 6 to the globe. Seems like BlackBerry is not the only one tech giant who is making a comeback this year.
Nokia Mobile unveiled the Nokia 6 on its Facebook page announcing that "The Nokia 6 is coming to China. More announcements to follow on February 26th... Save the date!"
Nokia declared last month that it would be returning to the smartphone market in 2017. As written in The Verge, HMD Global, a Finnish company which creates phones under the Nokia brand name, revealed the first new Nokia Android phone at the weekend.
Nokia 6 will only be available in China in upcoming months. HMD Global is teasing February 26th for potential announcements and the company is planning to unveil additional smartphones.
The company is giving hint that they will launch their mobile in Mobile World Congress show in Barcelona by the date February 26 which lines up perfectly with the start of the event. MWC is world's largest mobile show which takes place in Spain each year at the end of February.
According to CNET, Nokia 6 won't run any of the Google services like the Google Play Store, Google Maps or Google Account will also not work on this android smartphone. Although it is an Android phone, it won't run any Google service which is strange and hard to cop up with.
HMD owns a 10-year license to sell smartphones branded as Nokia Mobile. Foxconn's FIH Mobile division handles manufacturing and distributing of Nokia phones.
Nokia 6 will come with 5.5" screen with 1920×1080 pixel resolution powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 processor and 4GB RAM. There is 16-Megapixel primary camera and 8-Megapixel secondary camera.
It will run Android software and will be available in China through a partnership with retailer JD.com for 1700 yuan which is $245 in US currency.
