Fans will have to wait a little longer for the much anticipated new television series of Star Trek: Discovery. The series was set to be aired from this January but has been postponed once again and will start from May now. In the meantime, here's look at the cast for the show.
Star Trek by CBS is trying to go to places where no one has gone in the past 11 years. The cast of the Sci-fi TV series will have Hannibal's Bryan Fuller will be the showrunner.
Actor James Frain (Gotham, Orphan Black, True Blood) will be joining the cast and he is named as Sarek. Sarek which was originally played by Mark Lenard in the Original series and many movies too. By the addition of James, the count for total actors announced moves to eight which is the usual number for Star Treks cast.
Sonequa Martin-Green from "The Walking Dead" will be leading the cast as Discovery Officer Lt. Cmdr. Rainsford which is also known as "Number One." Doug Jones who has played many roles of creature will appear as alien Saru, the Discovery's Science officer.
Anthony Rapp will be playing Lt. Stamets who is a Discovery Officer and specialized in astromycology. Michelle Yeoh from Hong Kong who has worked in Hidden Dragon will play Captain Georgiou, captain of the different Starfleet ship.
Shazad Latif who is a British actor will be playing on of the three main cast members who are Klingons. Chris Obi will be playing T'Kuvma who is described as "seeking to unite the Klingon houses." He has also appeared previously in American God's by Bryan Fuller. Mary Chieffo is L'Rell will be the Battle Deck Commander of Klingon Ship, as reported by IGN.
Alex Kurtzman would be the executive producer. The show has been delayed now twice and the reason considered for this delay is said to allow getting some better scripts.
Fuller and Kurtzman recently gave a joint statement saying, "Bringing Star Trek back to television carries a responsibility and mission: to connect fans and newcomers alike to the series that has fed our imaginations since childhood" as per report by Digita lSpy.
Outside the US, the new Star Trek: Discovery will be available on Netflix in about 188 different countries.
